  • African American Female Professor Scholarship Awar

    The African American Female Professor Award Association (AAFPAA) invites African American female students to apply for the African American Female Professor Award Association Scholarship Award. Applicants must be currently studying courses that impact our community, such as any of the following:

    African American History, Organizational Leadership, Sociology, Ethics, Human Resources, Philosophy, Communication, and Public Health. Students enrolled in any of the aforementioned programs, or related fields, are strongly encouraged to submit applications for scholarships.

    AAFPAA will award two $500.00 scholarships for the fall semester of 2023. The scholarship award and announcement will be shared with the student and their attending college.

    ANY AFRICAN AMERICAN FEMALE STUDENT, INCLUDING BOTH UNDERGRADUATE

    AND GRADUATE STUDENTS, ENROLLED IN A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY, IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY.

    Applicants must:

    • be an African American Female
    • be pursuing degree at college or university
    • maintain 3.3 GPA (include current grades, official copy )

    Please upload a 500-word essay regarding how diversity and cultural competence enhance the college experience. Why are diversity and cultural competence just as valuable as academic rigor? What do you do to enhance cultural awareness, ensuring inclusion for all students on campus?

    Applicants will be reviewed by the Alumnae Committee of the African Female Professor Award Association. Each submission will be scored 1-5. The top ten submissions will go before the committee and a discussion will determine the recipient.

    Mission Statement: To identify and honor African American female professors, past and present, and thereby embolden African American female educators to pursue advanced studies and become college professors. With ever increasing numbers of African American female professors on campuses across the country, this will ultimately change the landscape of higher education and through the combination of diversity and cultural mindfulness brought by their leadership in the classroom, students of color will succeed and thrive in ever higher numbers. Furthermore, award annual scholarships to African American female college students.
