HIST 1995, Special Topics: LGBTQ History in the United States
This course surveys the history of same-sex sexuality and gender non-conformity in the U.S. from the 1700s to the present. We will pay particular attention to the intersections of gender, race, sexuality, class, region, nation, and shifting global contexts. In exploring the diverse lives and conditions of LGBTQ people over time, the class illuminates a number of aspects of the American past, present, and future.
