Jacquelyn Campbell is a national leader in research and advocacy in the field of domestic and intimate partner violence (IPV). She has authored or co-authored more than 230 publications and seven books on violence and health outcomes. She teaches an undergraduate and MSN elective in Family Violence as well as in the PhD program and is the PI of an NIH-funded (T32) fellowship that provides funding for pre- and postdoctoral fellows in violence research at Johns Hopkins University. She is on the Board of Directors for Futures Without Violence, is an active member of the Johns Hopkins Women’s Health Research Group, and has served on the boards of the House of Ruth Battered Women's Shelter and four other shelters. She was a member of the congressionally appointed U.S. Department of Defense Task Force on Domestic Violence.
Megan O’Donnell is the assistant director of the Center for Global Development’s gender program and a senior policy analyst. She works on issues related to women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion, gender data and measurement, and development effectiveness. Prior to CGD, O’Donnell worked at the ONE Campaign, an international advocacy organization focused on sub Saharan Africa, where she led the development of ONE’s gender and inclusive growth-focused policy recommendations to donors and country governments. Before joining ONE, she coordinated CGD’s gender research program and has also worked with the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Center for Research on Women, CARE USA, Banyan Global, and the Middle East Institute. She has a master’s degree in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Oxford and a bachelor’s degree in Politics and French from the University of Virginia.
Preston Britner is a professor in the Human Development and Family Studies program at the University of Connecticut. His professional interests include Family-Focused, Community-Based Programs (e.g., Supportive Housing for Families; housing and child welfare), Promoting Positive Development and Educational Outcomes among Youth in Foster Care (e.g., UConn Rising Scholars), and
Child Maltreatment Prevention. He serves on the Editorial Boards for Advances in Child and Family Policy and Practice, the Journal of Behavioural Sciences, and the Journal of Child and Family Studies, and he is Editor Emeritus of The Journal of Primary Prevention.
Eve Valera is an Associate Professor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and a Research Scientist at Massachusetts General Hospital. She has worked in the field of domestic violence for nearly 25 years using a range of methodologies to understand the neural, neuropsychological and psychological consequences of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) resulting from intimate partner-violence (IPV). Dr. Valera’s research has also focused on using neuroimaging to understand the neurobiology of ADHD and how cortico cerebellar network abnormalities contribute to ADHD. Her most recent work in this area holds clinical relevance as it provides support for the potential targeting of cerebellar areas for therapeutic interventions in ADHD.Dr. Valera has authored nearly 50 publications, is a reviewer for more than 60 journals and has obtained numerous grants to support her research. She is actively engaged in training stakeholders (shelter workers, law enforcement, judicial personnel) and raising awareness of this global public health epidemic.
