Course Details: This course is designed for individuals seeking to understand the unique management challenges associated with running and growing the family firm, and to develop the skills to be an effective contributor as an employee, owner, business partner, advisor or consultant to such organizations. Family firms comprise the majority of private and public companies worldwide. Despite their prevalence, little attention is given to their unique challenges, strengths and weaknesses. We will be touching on a variety of issues, from relationship management amongst family members, to conflict resolution, succession planning, sibling rivalry, dealing with entitlement, developing family values, hiring and promoting family and non-family employees, and wealth creation and distribution, to name a few. The focus of this course is on small and medium size family enterprises where these issues are more salient and might impede firm performance and growth.
