  • Human Subjects: IBS Study

    Dr. Xiaomei Cong is seeking volunteers to be part of a paid research study. This research is being done at the School of Nursing at UConn Storrs and is evaluating pain associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome and the effects of a self-management program on symptoms and quality of life.. Participation will include completing questionnaires about your symptoms, a sensory examination and providing samples from of cheek swabs, blood and from your stool over 12 weeks.

     If you are between the ages of 18-29 years, and were diagnosed with IBS by a healthcare professional, and have access to a computer with internet you may be eligible to participate.

     You will not be eligible if you are: taking opioids on a regular basis; taking prebiotics, probiotics or antibiotics; have other areas of your body affected by chronic pain; are currently using illegal substances
