The pandemic has challenged institutions to reframe academic advising to support students (often through virtual channels) in conversations about their educational, career, and life goals. Maintaining the important connections between students and advisors has called for creative, new approaches to student engagement as well as new models for engaging academic advisors and their well-being. In this extended Transformative Conversation, we will share insights from leading practitioners in the field into effective academic advising, promising practices during these COVID times, and strategies to support advisor well-being as well as professional development.
Transformative Conversations explore how Higher Education is both impacted by and responding to the current pandemic and the social justice issues raised during the spring and summer of 2020. The series focuses on college teaching, learning, student success, and all aspects of higher education. The series includes frank conversations about equity, and the current climate in higher education. Through this forum, we engage with colleagues across the country to dissect issues in higher education in real-time.
