Dear advising community – our SHaW team is reaching out to share a new evidence-based tool to promote student success and well-being. We know that you are aware of the links between well-being and academic achievement, but too often students experience these as separate categories in their higher ed environments. We’re hopeful to bridge some of those gaps with YOU at UConn, a personalized, free platform that encourages students to develop personalized profiles focused on topics that matter most for their success. Students can select from over 20 topics that all relate to your success and well-being, and are then directed to curated content, encouraged to set goals, offered opportunities to complete self-checks, and referred to the campus-based resources most salient for their ongoing growth and progress.
The platform is available to everyone with a UConn email account, so if you’d like to explore the platform first hand, you can create an account at YOU at UConn with your single sign-on credentials and check things out yourself. If it seems like something that would have value for your advisees, please feel free to share it with them directly.
Below is a brief script you can use to share the resource with students. Please feel free to alter this to better reflect your voice as you’d like!
Your well-being, your relationships with yourself and others, AND your ability to perform well as a student are all linked together. That’s why I wanted to share that as a UConn student, you have access to YOU at UConn, a personalized, free platform that you can customize to focus on the areas that matter most for your success. Through YOU, you can build a profile tailored specifically to you and your interests selected from over 20 topics that all relate to your success and well-being. Once you have chosen your focus areas, you can access curated content to learn more, set goals and get motivation to achieve them, complete self-checks to see how you’re doing, and get connected to our UConn resources to support your ongoing growth and progress.
