1st & 2nd year students apply for Apprentice this spring and have the chance to be matched with a research group to explore being a researcher through a semester-long shadowing experience, which will occur in the fall.
Regional campus students are encouraged to apply if they will be on the Storrs campus for the fall 2026 semester and beyond.

There are two ways for students to be eligible:
- first generation to college from a low income household (chart on the application)
and/or
- self-identify as an underrepresented group in higher education
Students with majors spanning across CLAS, CAHNR, Business, Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacy, Education can pursue STEM-focused research projects!
