Opportunities

  • Nominate a student for the Rowe Scholars Program

The Rowe Scholars Program is an endowed scholarship program with a mission to provide students from backgrounds underrepresented in the health fields with opportunities to prepare for careers as leaders in the health professions community.

The Rowe Scholars Program will soon start seeking applications from current sophomores who are interested in joining the program for the fall semester of 2024. Applicants should be rising juniors who meet the criteria of both Rowe and the Honors Program. These criteria include:

    • intent to enter a health profession
    • a minimum 3.4 cumulative GPA
    • demonstrates financial need
    • status as a Connecticut resident
    • extracurricular involvement that relates to health
    • first generation college student, and/or membership in a group that is underrepresented professionally in the health fields

Benefits include a scholarship of $2000 a semester, eligibility to apply for research, opportunities abroad, and professional development funding; and several opportunities for enrichment, networking, and experiential learning.

We would like your help in identifying students who you believe are qualified for and would benefit from membership in the Rowe Scholars Program. Though financial need and underrepresented background are criteria, we understand that you may not have such knowledge about a student. If the student meets the other criteria, we would ask you to go ahead with submission of the student’s name. We look forward to seeing a number of nominations that will enhance our admissions process.

To nominate students for this scholarship, please send an email to rowescholars@uconn.edu with the full name of the student(s) and UConn e-mail address. (If students are not currently in the Honors Program, they should submit an Honors Program application.)

The Rowe Scholars application for rising juniors is open through July 1, 2024, and applications will be reviewed as they come in.

I am happy to answer any questions about our admissions process or the Rowe Scholars Program.  Thank you for helping us make this opportunity available to as many students as possible.
