Be a Learning Partner for Alternative Breaks

Learning Partners (LPs) play a vital role in making Alternative Breaks successful each year. While Student Program Directors lead the planning and facilitation of the trips, LPs provide crucial support by:

    ·    Offering leadership development and problem-solving guidance

    ·    Supporting risk management, finances, and policies

    ·    Engaging alongside students throughout the experience

Being an LP is a meaningful opportunity to grow, learn, and share an

    impactful experience with students.

    What are Alternative Breaks?

Alternative Breaks are service-learning experiences that allow students to work alongside community partners to address pressing social issues. These programs help participants:

    ·    Deepen awareness of social issues

    ·    Strengthen personal growth and leadership

    ·    Build skills for lifelong community collaboration

Programs take place during winter break, spring break, or select weekends. Each trip integrates the Eight Components of an Alternative Break—including education, service, reflection, and immersion—around themes such as environmental conservation, housing security, and healthcare.
